Grapat's DEAR UNIVERSE is a collection of 10 BIG PLANETS, 35 LITTLE STARS and 10 smaller MOONS...all made from solid wood and beautifully painted to represent the planets, moons and stars of our Galaxy!

Children can explore outer space with the planets, but besides being objects for open-ended play, the planets also work as a perfect addition to a weekly calendar. The days of the week were originally named after the planets:

Dies Lunae, the day of the moon, became Lunedi, combining lunae (moon) and di (day)which of course is Lundi in French, Monday in English; Dies Martis, the day of Mars, became Martedi, Mardi in French, Tuesday in English; Dies Mercurii, the day of Mercury, became Mercoledi, Mercredi in French, Wednesday in English;  Dies Jovis, the day of Jupiter, became Giovedi, Jeudi in French, Thursday in English; and Dies Veneris, the day of Venus, became Venerdi, Vendredi in French, Friday in English; Dies Saturni, day of Saturn, in English became Saturday, and Dies Solis, day of the Sun, or Sunday!

The DEAR UNIVERSE SET contains more than 50 wooden pieces / sizes from 12mm in diameter to 45mm in diameter (0.5 to 2inches). This set can be combined with Grapat's Wooden Perpetual Weekly Calendar (in English and in French). Sold separately.
