Twelve children were born in this house. Their stories of growing up in this beautiful large old house were waiting to be discovered and told. Sadly, the house is now gone, but told with love, the story of the family who lived there, and the love they had for each other, and the land they lived on was to be found among the falling-down house.
The author interviewed descendants of the Swantak family still living nearby, and used bits of old cloth she found in the collapsed old house to create the pictures used in her finished story. Anyone who has visited a Grandparent in an old house will feel the resonance of this farmhouses's story. Beautiful and lyrical.
Paintings of the farmhouse interiors are very detailed. Children will enjoy looking through windows, and finding new discoveries hidden under beds, and in cupboards.
