"I'm on my way up North because Moshom, my Grandpa, is taking me to his trapline. I've never been there before, and Moshom says he hasn't been since he was a kid like me."

In the language of the Swampy Cree, KIWEW means "he goes home". So tells celebrated author David Robertson. Now living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he is a member of Norway House Cree Nation.

ON THE TRAPLINE is a lovely, lyrical, very poignant story of a young boy's first visit up to Canada's far North. Home to his beloved Grandfather's childhood memories...and their family's ancestral lands.

Lovingly illustrated by Swampy Cree and Red River Metis author, illustrator and artist, Julie Flett. They both enjoy working together to bring these important stories to a new generation of Canadian children. They have also included a list of Swampy Cree words used in the story.

More from our FIRST NATIONS Collection sold separately. Supporting Canadian Authors.
