This Educational game by Erzi, MATHEMATICAL FRACTIONS OF A WHOLE, not only conveys a visual impression of fractions, but also allows children to gain hands-on experience by actually placing the different blocks of wood together to make a whole!

Constructed from solid beechwood, this unique system is designed to teach children the various parts making up a whole number. While playing with three dimensional cube pieces, children learn to distinguish whole shapes, halves, quarters, and eighths.

When advancing to higher primary school grades, they then learn how to express these shapes abstractly in the forms of fractions.

This direct learning-by-playing method teaches young children the number of different possibilities of forming a cube from 2 halves, or from one half and four eights, or two quarters and 1 half.

Includes: 1 large cube to form a whole, 2 halves, 4 quarters and 8 eighth size solid beechwood cubes. One large play mat 40x40cm (16x16inches). The shaded cube shapes on the mat are lightly roughed so the blocks of wood stick enough for fractions to be worked out. Such a simple concept, yet so clever! Math has never been more engaging!
