Parenting Resource Book - WHAT IS A WALDORF KINDERGARTEN?
"...and, if you have had the great pleasure of sitting in the midst of children's creative, imaginative play, you will know the happy sound at the heart of this beehive of activity..."
Such is the Waldorf Kindergarten! Baking, washing, sweeping, mending, singing, painting!
WHAT IS A WALDORF KINDERGARTEN? is a series of chapters, and articles, written by different Waldorf educators and experts on child development from around the world, compiled and introduced by Sharifa Oppenheimer.
Together they argue, and illustrate (through words and pictures), that "all this beauty given to the children (in a Waldorf Kindergarten) is "nutritional". Their senses are stimulated, then through free movement and imitation of the adults the experience is digested, and finally, it becomes their own, nourishing their growth toward freedom".
There is an extensive list of further resources at the end of the book.
Published by a grant from the Waldorf Curriculum Fund, and the Association of Waldorf Schools in North America (AWSNA Books).
